Following an update from Motorola, many users are reporting a boost in battery with both Ambient mode on and off. According to Droid-Life, some users were reporting increases of up to 30 percent.
We can report that with Ambient Mode on and moderate use, we didn’t have a problem getting through the day before that little red battery icon started to haunt our wrists. We charged it at about lunchtime on Monday, left it off the charger on Monday night (yes, sleeping is moderately uncomfortable while wearing this watch), and only got a warning on Tuesday morning about about charging the device.
As you can imagine, if you’re willing to give up Ambient Mode, your watch will go a lot further. Some, including Droid-Life are saying two days, which is extremely good for a smartwatch.
Despite all this, Motorola hasn’t commented on the increased battery life.
The changelog for this update lists only improvements to Bluetooth connectivity, the addition of a charging notification for when the watch is totally dead, and non-descript “bug fixes and system optimizations.”
